Over 40,000 Canadian Tire kids’ garden tools recalled due to excessive barium content

Tens of thousands of children’s gardening tools sold at Canadian Tire have been recalled after tests found they contained excessive amounts of barium.

The Yardworks Assist Kids Garden Tools – product number 059-7144 – were sold between 2019 and 2021.

More than 42,000 of the products are known to have been sold.

<p dir=Canadian Tire stated that it found more barium in the coating of the tools than allowed by Canadian toy regulations.

Anyone who owns any of the products is advised to stop using it immediately and request a refund.

No violations related to the products were reported as of March 24th.

They were made in China.
